Culturepreneurship

Ideation

Once we had received the brief we were told we would be working in pairs to create a business plan. Erla and I decided to work together. We had to create a concept which would help us develop our entrepreneurial skills. The concept needed to have an element of creativity, as the creative industries is where we would look to for funding.

I had vaguely played around with a few ideas such as;

  • Supper Clubs in aid of charities – for example the Aleppo Supper Club, which I came across on Social Media
  • Creative agency – where nothing is outsourced, everything is created in house
  • Subscription box – curated for student houses

When coming up with an idea, we struggled at first. I found my mind to be completely blank. However, after some discussion, Erla and I reflected upon a project we had worked on together the previous year. The project was to create an interactive installation focused on Sustainability. We looked at Micro-Fibers and created a giant washing machine. After we did this project Erla bought herself a ball you put in the washing machine to catch the fibers. We then came to the conclusion that, everyone wants to do the right thing, they just don’t always know how to. We decided to combine this with my idea of a subscription box.

Our Idea:

Curating a Sustainable Lifestyle Box

  • Would have funny names
  • Seasonal Box
  • Monthly Box
  • Essentials Box
  • Mystery Box / Item
  • Different Artists illustrate each month
  • Print, sticker or one off unique item included from artist
  • Reuse the box itself – gift box
  • Possible things to go inside: Moon cup, Toilet Roll, Tea bags, make up removal pads, biodegradable cotton buds, cora ball for laundry, lush bar shampoo, phone cases, glass straws
  • Time of the month Box – tea without microfibers, moon cup, chocolate, toilet rolls
  • Booklet containing info about each item / how they help environment
  • Reject products? sold for cheaper ?
